The River Gem Bed & Breakfast is located on the Eastern Shore of Maryland in Pocomoke City, Worcester County.
The River Gem is housed in the historic Littleton T. Clarke House, a restored Second Empire Victorian home, built circa 1860. The house is on the National Register of Historic Places and is representative of Lower Eastern Shore heritage in Maryland.
In 2013, Innkeepers Mona Margarita and her daughters, Aurora and Violet, brought their own unique charm to the beautiful B&B.
Come for the comfortable beds and stay for the delicious breakfasts! Choose from options such as buttermilk waffles, Irish steel-cut Oatmeal, French toast, fresh fruit salad, homemade pastries, breakfast sausage, ham or bacon, eggs, quiche, juices, coffee, and a variety of specialty teas. We do our best to accommodate dietary choices or restrictions. Enjoy afternoon tea in our café-style dining room, complete with free wifi.
Upon arrival at the Bed & Breakfast, park your car in our private lot. You will immediately notice the front and side porches, inviting you to soak up the sunshine or sit cozy, protected from the weather. Relax in the luxurious parlor, and maybe read by the fireplace. All cultures and languages are welcome and appreciated. In consideration of the health and comfort of our guests, The River Gem BnB is a “breathe easy” property; smoking and pets are not permitted on the premises. Private rooms have Blueair purifiers and the dining cafe has a Molekule air purifier to filter particulates.
Pocomoke City is known as the “Friendliest Town on the Eastern Shore”and rests on the banks of the Pocomoke River. Two short blocks from The River Gem BnB, you will find the boardwalk and Nature Trail on the river, alongside the Delmarva Discovery Museum and the Dockside restaurant. Also on the main street is the Mar-Va Theater, an impressive historic theater.
Pocomoke City is in close proximity to the Chesapeake Bay, and the Atlantic Beaches, notably Chincoteague and Assateague National Park, as well as the NASA Flight Facility at Wallops Island. Plenty of opportunity exists to bike, canoe, kayak, hike, fish, crab, shop, and enjoy local restaurants. Pocomoke is the perfect place to stop on your way South to Carolina resorts or North to New England. We are located halfway between Dover and Virginia Beach on US 13.
